Who are the FLP Mentors?

Current and former athletes who played NCAA, PWHL or professional hockey. Each applies, is reviewed by FLP, and is listed by the highest level they played. A Verified badge means FLP has confirmed that history.

Do I pick the mentor, or does FLP?

You pick. Browse by position, read the profile and reviews, and choose. You can name a second choice in case your first can't take the job in time.

What if my first choice is at capacity?

You can wait for them for a number of days you choose. If they don't free up, the job goes to your second choice. You're charged once at checkout either way.

How long does a breakdown take?

Mentors have 48 hours to accept and 72 hours from accepting to deliver. You'll see the clock on your order page.

Can my youth athlete have their own login?

No. Accounts belong to parents. Your youth athlete is a profile under your account, and there is no direct messaging between mentors and minors.

Is the Film Room recorded?

Always. Recording starts the moment the mentor joins and nobody in the room can stop it. Parents may join any session. FLP keeps recordings for quality control and safeguarding.

What if the breakdown isn't good?

File a Quality Control Audit from the order page within 7 days. FLP reviews the video and worksheet and decides on a refund, a re-review by another mentor, or another fix. The mentor's payout is held while the audit is open.

How do I upload the game film?

Any phone video works; MP4 or MOV is ideal, and any length is fine. Keep the tab open until the bar reaches 100%. If your connection drops, the upload resumes on its own. A full game is usually 1 to 4 GB. Or paste a YouTube link on the order step instead.

Where does my film go?

To a private video service. Only you, your chosen mentor once they've accepted, and FLP can view it. Links don't work without being signed in.

What does the mentor see about my youth athlete?

First name and last initial, age group, position, level, and what you asked them to look at. The film opens for them only after they accept the job. They never see your name or contact details.

Can I order for more than one child?

Yes. Add each youth athlete under Your youth athletes. Every order, session and Development Log is filed under the right player.

I paid but haven't uploaded the film yet. Is that a problem?

Only that the mentor can't start. Upload it as soon as you can from the order page or from Upload film on Your breakdowns; the mentor gets it the moment it has processed.

Do I have to be on the Film Room call?

No, that's your choice. You say at booking whether you'll sit in, and you can join any session at any time regardless. Every session is recorded either way.

How do I cancel a Film Room, and do I get my money back?

Open the session under Your sessions and press Cancel. More than 24 hours before, it's a full refund. Inside that window on a confirmed session there's no refund, because the mentor kept the time for you. The button tells you which before you press it.

What if the mentor doesn't show up?

10 minutes after the start, press "didn't show" on the session page. You're refunded in full and FLP follows up with the mentor. A session the mentor never joined is refunded automatically a day after its end even if you don't press it.

Can I watch the recording of a Film Room afterwards?

No. Recordings are kept by FLP for 90 days for quality and safety review and aren't published. What you keep is the mentor's recap, on the session page and in the Development Log.

Why isn't my review on the mentor's page?

Ratings of 4 stars and up publish on their own. Anything below goes to FLP first, who decide whether to publish. You always see your own rating on your order or session page.

How do refunds come back?

To the card you paid with, through Stripe, and you're emailed when one is issued. It can take a few business days to show on your statement.

Is there a guide I can read first?

Yes. The FLP Parent Guide walks through every step: your account, ordering, uploading, what you get back, Film Rooms, ratings and audits, First Line Presents, safety and help. It's a searchable PDF, also linked from your dashboard.

What is First Line Presents?

A personal video message recorded by an FLP athlete for an occasion: a birthday, a big game, a comeback. You pick the athlete, tell them who it's for and what to say, and get a private link by email within a few days. Anyone can order one, no account needed, and FLP checks every video made for a young athlete. More about Presents.

For mentors

Who can apply?

Athletes who played NCAA (D1, D3), U Sports, the PWHL, or professionally (NHL, AHL, ECHL, top European leagues). Junior-only careers aren't listed yet.

How much do I make?

You keep the majority of every breakdown and Film Room at your tier. The exact split is shown in the application and on every request before you accept it.

How am I paid?

Through Stripe. You connect a bank account once; each delivered breakdown and completed session adds to your ledger and FLP pays it out.

What tools do I need?

A browser and a screen recorder you're comfortable with. Loom, QuickTime, OBS, your phone. You upload the recording to FLP and fill in the worksheet in the app.

Can I set my own hours?

Yes. You choose how many breakdowns you hold at once and post the weekly windows when families can book a Film Room with you.
